WHO WE ARE

A neuro-inclusive healthcare sector, for everyone

Neuro-Voices NPC is a South African not-for-profit organisation working to build a neuro-inclusive healthcare sector. We exist because neurodivergent people, including autistic individuals and those with ADHD, sensory processing differences, and other neurological profiles, too often experience healthcare environments that were never designed with them in mind.

We help hospitals, clinics, and practitioners deliver care that neurodivergent people and their families can understand, trust, and access with dignity.

Inclusion is not a favour. It is good clinical practice. When healthcare environments work for neurodivergent people, they work better for everyone.

OUR STORY

Our founder spent more than seventeen years working inside South African healthcare as a diagnostic radiographer and mammographer. One pattern repeated itself: neurodivergent patients, and the families supporting them, were navigating a system that was never designed with them in mind. Neuro-Voices grew directly out of that experience.

THE PROBLEM

A system that overwhelms the people it should heal

Spaces that hurt

Clinical environments overwhelm neurodivergent senses before care begins.

A workforce unprepared

Most clinicians receive zero neurodiversity training.

Families left alone

Diagnosis without support leaves families to figure it out alone.

Stigma and silence

People mask, avoid, and disengage from care entirely.

THE GAP

Three gaps. No organisation is closing all of them.

01

No unified voice

No South African organisation advocates specifically for neurodivergent healthcare rights.

02

No training standard

No accredited, repeatable way to train healthcare staff in neurodiversity exists.

03

No inclusive standard

No recognised benchmark defines what a neuro-inclusive healthcare environment looks like.

A small team of South African healthcare professionals in a bright meeting room. Predominantly white — two white women and one white man — with one Black female colleague. They are reviewing documents together around a table, collaborative and focused. Warm, professional, dignified. No text. Landscape, photorealistic.

Neuro-Voices exists to close these gaps.

OUR RESPONSE

We turn lived experience into lasting change, across healthcare

MISSION

To make South African healthcare understand, welcome, and work for neurodivergent people.

VISION

A South Africa where every neurodivergent person receives care that fits how their brain works.

OUR METHOD

The NICHE Framework, in four programmes

Neuro-Inclusive Care in Healthcare Environments — delivered through Train, Support, Adapt and Advocate, one connected system rather than four separate ideas.

OUR GOAL

Healthcare that is inclusive by design, not by exception.
